Duties & Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a high-growth start-up within the energy sector. This is a unique opportunity to establish and lead the entire finance function, partnering closely with the CEO to build an investment-ready business with strong financial governance and scalable processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Establish and lead the full finance function from the ground up.
Build, mentor and lead a high-performing finance team as the business grows.
Design and implement robust financial controls, governance frameworks and reporting structures.
Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making, fundraising and business growth.
Lead the budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning process.
Implement and optimise accounting processes and ERP systems to support a scalable business.
Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, compliance, tax, treasury and cash flow management.
Partner with the executive team to evaluate commercial opportunities, investments and strategic initiatives.
Prepare board packs, financial reports and investor presentations.
Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.
Minimum Requirements:
CA(SA) qualification is essential.
Minimum 10 years' post-qualification experience, including senior financial leadership roles.
Previous experience establishing or significantly transforming a finance function within a start-up or high-growth environment.
Proven experience building and leading finance teams.
Strong experience implementing internal controls, accounting policies and ERP/accounting systems.
Advanced financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting experience.
Experience working with Sage is essential.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to support strategic decision-making.
Experience within the energy, oil, gas or petroleum sector will be highly advantageous.
