- A Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) qualification in Accounting/Auditing/Corporate Governance/Financial Management/ Risk Management/Compliance management or a related field is required.
- A post graduate qualification in a similar field will be an added advantage.
- Affiliation to a professionally recognised body such as IRMSA/IIA/ISACA/SAICA is required.
- Applicants must have at least 10 years' experience as a Risk Committee Chairperson in the public sector environment, with substantial exposure to enterprise risk management, governance, audit, compliance or corporate strategy.
- Previous experience serving on or chairing Board committees, preferably Risk and/or Audit Committees.
KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Public Sector Risk Management Framework, King V Report on Corporate Governance, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations, ISO 31000 Risk Management Framework, Governance, compliance and internal control frameworks.
Strategic leadership, high ethical standards, ability to maintain independence and objectivity, excellent communication and facilitation skills, ability to challenge constructively while maintaining collaborative relationships, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, facilitation skills, courage to challenge discussions and ask relevant questions, willing to dedicate effort, time and energy to serve the interest of the public.
