    LUNCHROOM MONITOR 
    Effective 2026-2027 School Year

     

    Qualifications:                        High School Diploma; previous work with children

    Reports to:                             Building Administrators

    Evaluation:                             As determined by the District

    Work Calendar:                     174 work days

    Position Goal:                       To assist in the supervision of the lunchroom/cafeteria, therefore creating a pleasant, orderly and clean lunchroom atmosphere in which students can enjoy their                                                       food and companionship of friends

    Rate of Pay:                          $15.00 per hour, position is not eligible for benefits

    The Lunchroom Supervisor shall be responsible for the following duties and perform other duties as assigned by the administrator or their designee:

    Superintendent/Board:

    • Observe and adhere to all Board of Education policies and regulations, and all administrative rules and procedures
    • Follow all State of Illinois codes relative to the requirements of the food service program including food allergies, FDA rules and Health Dept.

    Building:

    • Supervise students during lunchtime in the cafeteria and as needed/ directed in the gymnasium, playgrounds, hallways and bathrooms
    • Clean lunch tables every day as needed using the appropriate cleaning solutions and materials
    • Assist in seating students to the extent necessary
    • Provide assistance to students with handicaps
    • Encourage students to eat their lunches
    • Organize the students for an orderly dismissal
    • Maintain a safe environment
    • Maintain a reasonable noise/volume level so as not to disturb other classes and to be able to make announcements if necessary


    Individual:

    • Exhibit confidentiality in relation to students, parents and staff
    • Remain current in the use of First Aid, CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, EPI Pen and the AED (if required by Administration)
    • Be knowledgeable of and implement the District Safety Plan


    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to move tables
    • Frequent and prolonged standing, walking and bending
    • Exposure to noise and activity levels associated with school life
