Job Description

The best operational leaders have a knack for seeing the bigger picture. They understand how people, priorities, resources and performance all connect. More importantly, they know how to create an environment where talented people can do their best work.

RSG operates in a specialised sector, combining animal reproduction services, technical expertise and operational excellence to support genetic improvement programs across New Zealand and international markets.

Success at RSG is built on the contribution of talented people operating across breeding services, semen production, embryo production, laboratory operations, farm centre activities and client services. Individually these teams are highly capable. Collectively they're responsible for delivering outcomes that matter to clients, partners and the wider industry.

As the business continues to grow and evolve, the opportunity exists for an Operations Team Leader to support these teams, strengthen alignment across the business, and help ensure everyone is working toward common goals with clarity, consistency and accountability.

Working alongside the General Manager, you'll be in a position to influence how the business operates day to day. From supporting key decisions and setting priorities through to developing leadership capability and maintaining focus on what matters most, you'll play an important role in helping RSG continue delivering outstanding outcomes for clients, partners and stakeholders.

You'll be working in a business where your ideas, judgement and leadership capability will genuinely matter. The successful candidate is likely to bring:

  • Experience leading across multiple operational functions or business units.
  • Strong commercial and operational judgement.
  • The ability to balance people, performance and priorities.
  • Credibility in agriculture, livestock, laboratory, manufacturing, logistics, food production or similarly complex environments.
  • A passion for developing people and creating high performing teams.
  • The ability to turn strategy into practical action.

Most importantly, you'll be the sort of person who naturally creates confidence, brings structure to complexity and lifts the people around you. You'll be respected for your integrity, your work ethic and your ability to remain calm and focused when challenges arise.

RSG's values of faith, family, integrity, trust and excellence sit at the centre of the business. We're looking for someone who connects with those principles and wants to contribute to a culture where people genuinely enjoy working together while achieving great outcomes.
