Independent Trustee - Pension Plan for the Non-teaching Employees of the Saskatoon Board of Education
Saskatoon Public Schools is the largest school division in Saskatchewan, serving nearly 29,000 students with the support of more than 3,300 dedicated professional and support staff. Our division includes 48 elementary schools and 10 secondary schools, including a flexible learning program for artists and athletes, and a unique partnership school � Charles Red Hawk Elementary School located on Whitecap Dakota Nation.
Saskatoon Public Schools invites expressions of interest for an Independent Trustee for the Pension Plan for Non-teaching Employees. We are seeking candidates with specialized knowledge in investments and/or pension administration to fill a vacancy. There is a nominal stipend associated with this volunteer position.
Pension trustees generally meet five times per year; operating on a January 1 to December 31 fiscal year. This is a 4-year term, renewable.
The plan is a defined-benefit pension plan applying to school division employees who are not eligible to participate in the Saskatchewan Teachers' Superannuation Plan. Pension Trustees are responsible for overseeing the administration and investments of the plan. The Pension Trustees consists of 6 individuals; 3 elected school division officials, one executive staff member and two independent trustees.
Pension Trustees' primary responsibilities are to:
Engage in planning and risk management.
Qualifications and requirements:
Along with board experience, the ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge in either the defined-benefit pension industry or the investment industry.
