Note: The role operates on a self-employed, commission/revenue-share basis.
Job Purpose
- Client is seeking an experienced, client-focused Mortgage & Protection Adviser to join its growing business on a self-employed basis.
- The successful candidate will bring an existing, active and transferable client bank and a proven track record of generating at least £150,000+ in annual gross mortgage and protection banked income.
- The adviser will retain and develop their existing mortgage relationships while identifying suitable opportunities for wider financial planning, including investments, pensions and wealth management.
These opportunities will be referred to Client's specialist wealth management team.
- The role is suited to an established adviser who values long-term client relationships, commercial independence and a collaborative support structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, retain and develop an existing mortgage and protection client bank.
- Provide high-quality, compliant mortgage and protection advice to clients.
- Maintain consistent levels of mortgage and protection production.
- Build long-term relationships with clients and proactively identify their changing financial needs.
- Identify suitable opportunities relating to investments, pensions and wider financial planning.
- Refer appropriate wealth-management opportunities to Client's specialist team.
- Support a smooth and professional handover of referred clients.
- Maintain accurate and compliant advice documentation and records.
- Ensure all client activity is conducted in line with relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the wider Client team.
- Contribute to the continued growth and development of the client bank.
- Make effective use of the administration, mortgage case-progression, compliance, systems and marketing support provided by Client.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Current Competent Adviser Status (CAS).
- Proven experience as a Mortgage and Protection Adviser.
- An established, active and transferable client bank.
- Proven track record of generating £150,000+ annual gross mortgage and protection banked income.
- Strong understanding of the UK mortgage and protection market.
- Demonstrable ability to retain and develop long-term client relationships.
- Strong understanding of compliance and quality standards.
- Ability to identify wider financial-planning needs and make appropriate referrals.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Commercially minded and self-motivated.
- Comfortable working independently within a self-employed environment.
- Collaborative approach with a willingness to work alongside a wider wealth-management team.
Client & Wealth Management Referrals
The adviser will own and manage the day-to-day mortgage relationship with their clients.
Where suitable needs are identified, the adviser will refer opportunities relating to:
- Investments
- Pensions
- Wealth management
- Wider financial planning
Client will provide access to specialist financial-planning expertise to support these referrals and ensure clients receive a seamless service.
Support Provided
Client will provide:
- Administration and mortgage case-progression support.
- Compliance guidance.
- Business systems and operational infrastructure.
- Marketing and business-development support, within agreed parameters.
- Access to specialist wealth-management expertise.
- Opportunities to participate in social and networking events.
Commercial Structure
The role operates on a self-employed, commission/revenue-share basis.
The proposed commercial structure is:
Year 1
- Adviser share: 70%
- SJP deduction: 15%
- CWM share: 15%
Year 2
- Adviser share: 85%
- SJP deduction: 15%
- CWM share: 10%, subject to achieving annual banked business of £150,000+.
Year 3 onwards
- Adviser share: 80%
- SJP deduction: 15%
- CWM share: 5%, subject to achieving annual banked business of £150,000+.
The above commercial structure is currently subject to negotiation and final agreement.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an established, high-performing Mortgage and Protection Adviser with an existing client bank and strong annual production.
They will be comfortable working independently on a self-employed basis, while valuing the administrative, compliance, marketing and wealth-management support provided by Client.
They should also have a strong relationship-led approach and be confident identifying opportunities where clients could benefit from wider financial planning.
